Our Cathedral

St. Andrews Church, Zonkwa, which took on the status of a Cathedral at the creation of the Diocese was founded in the month of November, in the year of our Lord Nineteen fifty-one (1951) but did not have a worker until a decade later, 1961 in the person of Late Catechist, later Reverend Suleiman Bamai.

Amongst the many who at different times provided pastoral oversight in St Andrews, two are now bishops. The Rev. Benjamin Kwashi and the Rev. Zakka Nyam, now Archbishop of the Province of Jos and Bishop of Kano, in 1987-88 and 1989-90 respectively, served as vicar in St Andrews.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world's rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:12
